<p>Norwich foodies assemble &#8211; there&#8217;s a hot new restaurant in town! Cook Mama opened its doors in recent weeks serving up a Japanese-inspired menu offering everything from satisfying, steamy bowls of ramen and tasty Teppanyaki to lip-smacking marinated meats charred to perfection on the grill. You can eat in or take away but its worth checking out the revamped restaurant, which was previously Italian eatery The Bridge.</p>

<p>Sushi near the sea? Yes please. This one&#8217;s another newbie &#8211; and a first foray into Japanese cuisine for Great Yarmouth. Swap traditional seaside fish and chips for sushi-to-go from this restaurant which is starting out as a takeaway, with deliveries in the local area. The menu features freshly made sushi poke bowls through to 32-piece sushi sharing platters.</p>

<p>Expect down-to-earth delicious dishes at Soyokaze, with the traditionally made ramen a particular highlight. Many a painstaking hour is spent boiling the broth until it&#8217;s thick, silky and flavour packed. Salivating? Me too. The impressive menu includes freshly prepared sushi, sashimi, gyoza and katsu curries, with plenty of options for veggies too.</p>

<p>Shiki<strong> </strong>have been serving up authentic Japanese cuisine, using fresh local produce, since 2004. Located opposite Norwich Cathedral, it&#8217;s a popular spot with both locals and tourists (booking is a must). The way to dine at Shiki is to do &#8220;otsumami&#8221; which means not-too substantial but sharable dishes &#8211; basically order a bit of whatever you fancy!  Sip sake in style in the sleek monochrome restaurant or enjoy a bento-box selection alfresco, people watching on Tombland&#8217;s cobbles.</p>

<p>When Norfolk meets Japan you get Momiji<strong>,</strong> a relaxed, cosy restaurant with exposed beams and low ceilings (all the Norfolk cottage quirks) &#8211; and an authentic Japanese menu worth wearing flats for. The choice is relatively modest with sharing a selection of small plates the way to go. Everything is cooked and served to order so dishes come staggered. Highlights include tempura with dipping broth, yaki soba stir-fry noodles and pan-fried gyozas. Keep an eye out for the occasional sushi nights. </p>

<p>The decor alone in Ciscoe&#8217;s is worth a visit with its mock cherry blossom tree, cool underground vibe and abundance of dry ice. This pan Asian and sushi restaurant boasts a creative and mouth-watering menu from build-your-own ramen and traditional sharing dishes to more substantial plates like sticky honey pork and Ciscoe&#8217;s special katsu curry. Not forgetting the topnotch sushi. Cisco’s also caters large events <em>and</em> offers sushi-making classes, if you fancy having a crack at rolling your own chumaki.</p>

Inspired by Asian street food, their cheeky menu (seriously, read some of the names) is packed with punchy flavours like the Godzilla Katsu chicken burger with pickled ginger and kewpie mayo and fries smothered in sriracha, satay sauce, chilli and peanuts. <p>Inspired by the small, lively bars found in Tokyo, Izakaya translates as stay-drink-place &#8211; and you can easily wile away an evening here chatting with friends, making your way through the menu and amazing cocktail list. The plates are small and made for sharing with plenty of different options for everyone to try. Lunchtime bento boxes are available too. Chopsticks at the ready! </p>

<p>It proves very difficult to walk past Bunbox on Norwich Market without getting drawn in by the wafting delicious smells. This glorious Japanese-inspired street food vendor serves up everything from fresh sticky bao buns with tantalising fillings to donburi rice bowls and delicate dumplings perfect for lunch on the hop or dining al fresco. As well as these staples, they&#8217;ve always got some great specials &#8211; all eyes on the fried spicy kimchi rice balls!</p>
