<p>Selfie sticks at the ready! Viewed from the sky, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/norfolk_tulips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Norfolk Tulips</a>&#8216; fields (on the outskirts of King&#8217;s Lynn) form a breathtaking rainbow patchwork. But the effect is no less spectacular on foot, and people flock from across the UK to walk through the field that’s open to the public for just 10 days each year. While dates for 2023 haven’t been announced yet, tickets usually become available in April or early May, in aid of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thenorfolkhospice/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Norfolk Hospice</a>. Keep an eye on their <a href="https://www.norfolktulips.co.uk">website</a> or <a href="https://www.instagram.com/norfolk_tulips/">social media</a> to nab your spot.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Roaring with pride</h2>

<p>Come face to face with a Lioness in North Walsham as a new super-sized street artwork has been unveiled &#8211; and is already causing quite a stir. Commissioned by the owner of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Cafekitale" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Café Kitali</a>, the massive mural celebrates local girl Lauren Hemp&#8217;s fantastic achievements as part of triumphant England women&#8217;s team. Lauren and her parents have given it the seal of approval, but questions have been raised about planning permission.</p>

<p>Love to support local <em>and</em> partial to a cocktail? Watch this space! Hot on the heels of launching a bar within <a href="https://www.alchemistacoffee.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Alchemista Coffee</a> in Norwich, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/doxicocktails/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Doxi Cocktails</a> are soon to open a gift shop at <strong>Hellesdon Barns</strong> on the outskirts of the city. Absolutely everything stocked will be locally produced, from their own bottled cocktails made with homemade ingredients through to craft beer, wines, spirits, art, jewellery and dried flowers. They&#8217;ll be welcomed into the Hellesdon Barns hood by artisan chocolate shop and patisserie <a href="https://www.instagram.com/emporium.norwich/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Emporium Norwich</a> and garden accessory store <a href="https://www.instagram.com/potmania.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Potmania</a>. It&#8217;s becoming quite the must-visit hub!</p>

<p>Doxi Cocktails have also rocked up at <a href="https://www.bakersandlarners.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bakers &amp; Larners</a> in Holt, where you can now lay your cocktail-gloved hands on the full range of their bottled concoctions, including the cute mix &#8216;n&#8217; match stackers. Shoppers at the 272 year old department store can also now fill their baskets with delicious meals and artisanal provisions created by Holt resident <a href="https://rbainbridge.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Richard Bainbridge</a>,&nbsp;award-winning chef-owner of three AA Rosette-awarded <a href="https://restaurantbenedicts.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benedicts</a> in Norwich.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Café culture</h2>

<p>Fresh from Norwich’s Yalm food hall, <a href="https://www.folkscoffeeco.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Folks Coffee Co</a> are launching a second site at <strong>Blakeney Quay</strong>, opening during April. Their indulgent single estate hot chocolate, frothing to the rim and topped with burnished mallows, got me through the winter months. There&#8217;ll also be flavoursome coffee from indie&nbsp;roasters, fine tea (don&#8217;t miss the white peony) and local pastries and cakes. </p>



<p>Wymondham&#8217;s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/loafmicrobakery/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Loaf Microbakery</a> has all the bakery buzzwords covered: slow food, plant-based, small-batch, artisan, organic&#8230; And soon you&#8217;ll be able to pick up their delicious, on-point sourdough, bagels, focaccia and cinnamon buns at a second outpost opening in the <strong>Norwich Lanes</strong> in early April. It&#8217;ll be mainly take away, with a few seats to savour a bake over a single-origin coffee &#8211; with oat milk, naturally.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-seafood-and-eat-it">Seafood and eat it!</h2>

<p>There&#8217;s plenty of fresh news for seafood lovers in North Norfolk. Over at <strong>West Runton</strong>, one of our favourite seafood destinations, <a href="https://www.rockybottoms.net/menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rocky Bottoms</a>, has just reopened for the season with some new menu highlights: gluten-free crab linguine and fish and chips, healthy Hawaiian-style poke bowls, and an even bigger selection of oysters, served traditionally or bathed in one of the new house dressings. Not forgetting an expanded rum collection at the bar (make mine a Pineapple rum&#8230;utterly addictive). </p>



<p>Famous for their quality local fish, Sheringham fishmongers <a href="https://www.caseafoods.co.uk">CA Seafoods</a> has just opened a restaurant, the aptly named <a href="https://www.fishmongerstavern.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fishmongers&#8217; Tavern</a>. Their own branded ale, High Tide and Low Tide, brewed by Moon Gazer, will be on tap (and used in the fish batter). Expect a tasting menu plus Sunday lunch for the first two weeks while they settle in.</p>

<p>And a tad further round the coast, stunning fish and chips with a sea-view awaits at <a href="https://www.no1cromer.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">No1 Cromer</a>, which has just scored a place in the prestigious <a href="https://www.hardens.com/az/restaurants/cromer/nr27/no-1.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Harden&#8217;s Guide 2023</a> for Very High Quality Food. We&#8217;d expect no less with Galton Blackiston &#8211; owner of Michelin-starred Morston Hall &#8211; at the helm. Whilst in Cromer, take a stroll along the pier to admire the revamped Pavilion Bar. The venue plays host to the popular <a href="https://cromer.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873630642?_ga=2.31482622.1103267389.1679653437-2111972062.1659854773" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cromer Soul Club &#8211; Keep The Faith</a> dance nights, which recently announced two new dates: <strong>22 Apr</strong> and <strong>11 Nov</strong>. Get ready to shake your stuff.</p>
