<p>Though most of the filming for the big-screen adaptation of the musical <strong><em>Wicked</em></strong> was based in Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire, the allure of the tulips at Belmont Nurseries in King&#8217;s Lynn were too strong. The nursery planted 9.2m worth of tulip bulbs to recreate the picture perfect Munchkinland which look particularly magical in the trailer above. As if you didn&#8217;t know by now, the movie, a prequel to <em>The Wizard of Oz</em>, sees Cynthia Arivo as Elphaba, pop princess Ariana Grande as Glinda, with Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh and <em>Bridgerton</em>&#8216;s Jonathan Bailey also starring. Though we must sit patiently for the release of part two (not until November peeps, sob) <em>Wicked</em> fever continues as the film is up for 10 gongs at this year&#8217;s Oscars.</p>

<p>Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to the UK now &#8211; when he&#8217;s not rousing the crowds at Wrexham, he&#8217;s been spotted facing off against Wolverine aka Hugh Jackman at Holkham Beach! The superheroes team up in the latest movie, <strong><em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine</em></strong>, to defeat a common enemy and you can see their particularly intense fight scene partly filmed on the white sandy shores of Holkham in the trailer above. But Ryan and Hugh aren&#8217;t the first A Listers to leave footprints in the Holkham sand; the pretty seaside stretch also features in <em>Annihilation</em>, <em>Never Let Me Go</em> and the 1998 smash <em>Shakespeare in Love</em> which won Gwyneth Paltrow her Oscar.</p>

<p>The scandalous manipulations of Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore) and her son George (Nicholas Galitzine) in last year&#8217;s Sky series may have kept you so enthralled you missed a familiar coastal location. However, Old Hunstanton Beach steals a scene between all the royal bed-hopping as <em>Game Of Thrones</em> actor, Joseph Mawle, who plays Sir Walter Raleigh in the series, is seen emerging from the water.</p>

<p>With so much military history attached to our county it isn&#8217;t surprising it&#8217;s the pick for many war films &#8211; though Steven Spielberg we&#8217;re not <em>that </em>offended you didn&#8217;t film <em>Masters of the Air </em>here, home of the 100th Bomb Group! Anyway, we digress, this heartwarming short film starring John Travolta tells the story of a young RAF pilot&nbsp;trying to make it home for Christmas from Germany only to encounter engine trouble across the North Sea. Spot Castle Acre, Fakenham&#8217;s RAF Sculthorpe and West Raynham Business Park (Raynham Hangars) which is used to portray both the German base, RAF Celle, and the fictional base, RAF Minton, in England in the movie.</p>

<p>Season one of this creepy psychological thriller &#8211; based on Simon Beckett&#8217;s hit book about a forensics expert in an isolated Norfolk village &#8211; aired back in 2022. It was a quiet hit starring Harry Treadaway, David Hayman, Samuel Anderson and Amy Nuttall. Moody and marshy, with very wet weather, the series was predominantly filmed in and around Horsey and Old Buckenham. With season two rumoured to be in the works, you might see plenty more of Treadaway and the gang in our locale to come.</p>

<p>You&#8217;d be forgiven for not spotting Norwich hotspots like Gentleman&#8217;s Walk, Epic Studios and the cute Café Gelato on Opie Street in this 2021 heart-warmer as the chemistry between Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack was palpable. The rom com, which sees Thompson play retired school teacher, Nancy Stokes, who embarks on a number of rendezvous with hot, 20-something sex worker Leo Grande, was filmed in both Norwich and London. If you haven&#8217;t watched it yet it&#8217;s a cracker not least for the Norwich nods. </p>

<p>With Sandringham on the doorstep it would be rude not to include this Diana biopic which saw Kristen Stewart take on the Princess long before Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki tackled her in<em> The Crown</em>. The 2021 movie centres on the period in Diana&#8217;s life when she decided to leave Charles during a Christmas at Sandringham and features scenes in Hunstanton, Castle Rising, Shropham and along various Norfolk roads.</p>

<p>Gorleston-on-Sea was a hub of activity in 2018/19 when director Danny Boyle and some 6,000 extras took to the seafront for his movie<strong><em> Yesterday</em></strong>. The film, written by Richard Curtis, sees Himesh Patel star as a struggling musician who finds himself the only person who remembers the Beatles and ends up taking credit for all their songs. An uplifting watch which put Gorleston (and Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Southwold and Halesworth) on Hollywood&#8217;s radar.</p>

<p>The light bright modernist space of the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich has been attracting superheroes for years now. Not only has it featured as the HQ in the ensemble movie <em><strong>Avengers: Age of Ultron</strong></em>, starring Robert Downy Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson and Chris Hemsworth, it also featured in Marvel&#8217;s <em>Ant-Man</em> movie in 2015 and again in <em>Spider-Man: Homecoming </em>in 2017. Now, if we could just time our next visit to coincide with Chris Hemsworth, that would be great. </p>

<p>We couldn&#8217;t pull a list together like this without a shoutout to Steve Coogan aka Alan Partridge, Norfolk&#8217;s most famous fictional broadcaster. The 2013 film <em>Alpha Papa</em>, filmed predominantly in Norfolk, saw his character run through the streets of Norwich and get taken hostage on a bus traveling through Sheringham, culminating in a tense confrontation on Cromer Pier. At the tail end of last year he was spotted doing the rounds again as filming got underway for a new mockumentary, <em>And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge</em>, where Partridge returns to Norfolk after a year in Saudi Arabia. No release date as yet, but to say we are intrigued would be an understatement! </p>

<p>The wobbly, wonky, cobbled medieval street of Elm Hill look as great on screen as it does in real life. Spy it in the magical adaptation of Neil Gaiman&#8217;s novella, <strong><em>Stardust</em></strong>, about a boy, a star, love and witches. With a cast sprinkled with A-List stardust &#8211; Clare Danes (above), Michelle Pfieffer, Robert De Niro &#8211; and a Take That soundtrack, it&#8217;s still a lovely bit of escapism even if you&#8217;re not escaping that far from a Norwich hotspot.</p>
