Pinkies poised for a Christmas afternoon tea! Here are our favourite foodie hangouts to nibble festive fancies in Norfolk.

The Assembly House, Norwich

Afternoon tea at The Assembly House Norwich

One of the prettiest afternoon teas this season, The Assembly House is going for a Narnia theme for their festive offering. As well as delicious-sounding savouries (hello, turkey sandwiches, parmesan shortbread and cheese and chive scones), you can also expect some exquisite-looking sweets. Turkish Delight macarons, snowy Black Forest cheesecake and Lucy’s caramel cake gateau opera? Sign us up! Available until 2 Jan.

Dunston Hall Hotel, Dunston

This classic afternoon tea with a festive twist (can you ever have too many mince pies with brandy cream? Asking for a friend) is available throughout December and is served from 2-5pm – giving you enough time to enjoy the spa or a round of golf in the morning. £25 per person, £10 per child aged 5-12, under 4s eat free.

Royal Norwich, Weston Longville

Royal Norwich festive afternoon tea

Golf fans, hotfoot it over to The Stables at Royal Norwich club for a fabulously festive afternoon tea. We’ve got our eye on the pork sausage roll with pancetta, sage and cranberry, the cinnamon spiced sultana scones with plum jam and clotted cream and the gingerbread macarons. Fight you for the leftovers! Available Mondays through Saturdays in December, 12pm to 4pm. £26.95 per adult, £13.95 per child (12 and under).

The Cliff Hotel, Gorleston-on-Sea

What could be better than mulled wine, turkey sandwiches and Bailey’s chocolate tiffin? Scoffing all that while at the seaside, naturally! Book your afternoon tea at The Cliff Hotel from 1 Dec to 2 Jan for the perfect winter beach break. £17.95 per person with tea or coffee, £19.95 with tea or coffee and a glass of Prosecco or mulled wine.

Broom Hall Hotel, Watton

Available throughout December up until Thurs 23, this afternoon tea has all the Christmassy touches we’d want – including Baileys cream profiteroles (excuse me while I wipe drool off my keyboard). £16.95 per person.

Barnham Broom, Norwich

Barnham Broom afternoon tea

Arriving on 22 Nov and being served until 23 Dec, Barnham Broom’s festive afternoon tea comes with traditional finger sandwiches and savouries, homemade scones and festive cakes. Fancy an upgrade? Swap your loose-leaf tea or fresh coffee for a glass of fizz or your favourite Christmas tipple. From £19.95, available daily.

The Dales Country House Hotel, Upper Sheringham

Head to this cosy country house in the North Norfolk countryside for a very civilised afternoon tea indeed. Available from 28 Nov, it comes with a selection of finger sandwiches, festive cakes and pastries, apple and cinnamon scones with a pot of tea or coffee and a glass of mulled wine. Pre-booking essential. £17.95 per person.

Titchwell Manor, Titchwell nr Brancaster

Cosy up by Titchwell Manor’s roaring open fire for their afternoon tea offering. Available from 13 to 23 December (so book your spot pronto!), it includes all the classic sandwiches and scones a girl could want as well as mince pies, iced Christmas cake and a sparkling cocktail. £27.50 per person.

Stower Grange, Drayton

Mulled wine trifle? Ooh, yes please. The elegant Stower Grange hotel just outside of Norwich gives its afternoon tea the festive treatment with the aforementioned trifle, cranberry scones, gingerbread and turkey finger sandwiches. £17.50 per person, or add a glass of Prosecco to bring it up to £22.50 per person.

Park Farm Hotel, Hethersett

Three tiers of festive joy ahoy! Park Farm Hotel’s menu includes a Chocolate and Clementine Opera Cake with Candied Clementine Peel, a Winter Berry and Mulled Wine Fool with Ginger Crumb and an Egg Nog Tart with Cinnamon Mascarpone, as well as savoury snacks and scones. £19.50 per person, or £24.50 per person with a glass of bubbles.

Maids Head Hotel, Tombland

If you can’t be bothered to whip your leftovers into some kind of passable meal on Boxing Day, go one better and treat yourself to a festive afternoon tea! The gorgeous Maids Head Hotel in Norwich is holding a Boxing Day tea in their snuggly lounges from 12 to 5 for only £22 per person, with children’s afternoon teas available so you can treat the whole family.
