<p>Famous for its primroses and azaleas which should be starting to bloom come Mother&#8217;s Day, <a href="https://www.fairhavengarden.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fairhaven Woodland &amp; Water Garden</a> is a great pick for mums (and their daughters) who need a bit of peace and quiet. Nestled in the middle of South Walsham, there&#8217;s four miles of pretty woodland paths and boardwalks to explore overlooking a private Broad. Boat rides are available &#8211; if your arms are up to the rowing, that is &#8211; but if you&#8217;re like us and would prefer the only exercise to be lifting a cake-loaded fork to mouth, refuel at the pretty onsite tearoom where breakfast, light lunches, homemade specials and sweet and savoury snacks are available from 9am-5pm.</p>

<p><a href="https://eastrustonoldvicarage.co.uk/gardens" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">East Runton Old Vicarage</a> has 19 gorgeous gardens to explore across its 32 acres. You could probably take your mum here for the next five Mother&#8217;s Days and still not see everything. From the Exotic Garden and Desert Wash to the Glasshouse Garden and Apple Walk, the gardens here will inspire the most green-fingered of mums. Even the onsite tearoom is surrounded by a stunning wild garden and makes the perfect place to rest, relax and enjoy a cuppa from Wed to Thu, 12-5.30pm, until Fri 31 Oct.</p>

<p>Norfolk&#8217;s National Trust properties all make a failsafe treat for Mum, but none more so right now than <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/norfolk/sheringham-park" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sheringham Park</a> whose nationally important collection of rhododendrons start blooming in March. There&#8217;s 1000 acres of varied habitats with plenty of different walking routes to choose from, depending on your ability and energy levels, and a bacon roll, piece of cake and a coffee from the Courtyard Café to bolster the activity. The park is open all day, while the café operates from 10am-4.30pm.</p>

<p>The daffs are out in full force at the beautiful <a href="https://www.hovetonhallestate.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hoveton Hall</a> where mums will get in for free on the big day itself (wahoo!). This will be the only chance you&#8217;ll get to have a look round until Easter when Hoveton opens its doors again for the less tranquil occasion of choc egg trails and sugar-fuelled kids. The pretty Kitchen Garden Cafè will be open too for your lunch or afternoon tea-sipping pleasure &#8211; word to the wise, prebook! Gates open from 10.30am.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve been there done that around Norfolk&#8217;s well-known heritage sites and fancy something a bit more freeform, take Mum for a tromp around <a href="https://www.walsinghamabbey.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Walsingham Abbey</a>, where snowdrops make way for golden daffs at the foot of the spectacular medieval ruins. Afterwards make a pilgrimage to the aptly named Shrine Tea Room for cakes and light lunch.</p>

<p>Another National Trust hero, and easy Mother&#8217;s Day win, is <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/norfolk/blickling-estate" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Blickling Hall</a> in all its Jacobean glory. Sitting pretty in the heart of the beautiful Bure meadows, the estate has over 4,600 acres to explore if you&#8217;re feeling adventurous, otherwise the formal garden with its ancient yews, lake, yellow blanket of daffs and pretty parterre are more than big enough to warrant a slice of cake and cuppa from The Stables and Muddy Boots cafés. The gardens and cafés are both open from 10am-4pm.</p>

<p>Treat your mum like royalty with a special afternoon tea at <a href="https://sandringhamestate.co.uk/events/afternoon-tea-at-sandringham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sandringham Estate</a> before taking in the sights of King Charles&#8217; stomping ground. Served on Chelsea botanical porcelain, using local ingredients and produce grown on the estate, afternoon tea here is certainly a right regal experience (booking essential). The main gardens won&#8217;t be open yet but the Royal Park is, with 243 hectares of parkland to explore and signposted trails ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 miles. </p>

Sitting pretty on the edge of the Norfolk Brecks, the estate&#8217;s views across the wildflower meadows and rare chalk river really are quite something. Open from 930am-5pm.</p>

There&#8217;s plenty of signposted trails taking you through the woodlands and over the rolling 520 acres of the estate, with the Squire’s Pantry providing everything from snacks and hot lunches to afternoon tea and ice cream. Open from 10am-4pm.</p>
