NR3 is the place to be &#8211; and never more so now that Yard has taken over the kitchen at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheStanleyNR3/?locale=en_GB" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Stanley Pub</a> on Magdalen Road in Norwich. The folks behind <a href="https://www.brickpizza-norwich.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brick Pizza</a> and <a href="https://www.yardnorwich.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Yard</a> on Pottergate (above) will be sticking with Italian fare, serving delicious homemade pasta dishes from 10 March.

Housed in the old post office, with quaffable wine supplied by <a href="https://chwinemerchants.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CH Wine Merchants</a> in Coltishall, it looks set to be a first-class venture (couldn&#8217;t resist). Get your sweet fix at a new cakery opened in Thetford Market Place. <a class="" href="https://www.instagram.com/p_ddin_/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Puddin</a>&nbsp;started life as a mobile dessert business in a horse box and is now taking the reins of its first premises, complete with all the insta-glam prerequisites &#8211; flower walls, neon signs and super-size toppings on cakes and bakes.&nbsp;Another sweet idea, the famous <a href="https://www.facebook.com/theicefloat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Norfolk ice cream boat</a> on The Broads has just announced a collaboration with <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thefudgeladynorfolk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fudge Lady</a>. Flakes are so last season.



Sadly it&#8217;s goodbye to some old favourites including one of Norfolk&#8217;s oldest pubs, The Green Dragon in Wymondham, along with the King&#8217;s Head in Hethersett and the brunch spot Artel in Norwich. And &#8211; gasp! &#8211; the team behind the super-successful <a href="https://duckinn.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Duck Inn</a> at Stanhoe have just announced they will be moving on in six months. If you haven’t been, now’s your chance to see what food critic Giles Coren was raving about it.

Follow the delicious wafting scents to a brand-new shop in a dream location. Launched online in 2020 with products featured in Vogue, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/the_scented_barn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Scented Barn</a> has just opened within Hopper Yard in Holt selling its own handcrafted fragrant goodies, including hand-poured soy wax melts and wood-wick candles, home mists and reed diffusers.&nbsp;It&#8217;s in fine company, nestled between <a href="https://www.follytearoom.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Folly Tearoom</a> and home and garden boutique <a href="https://follyology.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Follyology</a>.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arty happenings</h2>



It&#8217;s art with a heart in the city! Sainsbury Centre has just become the first UK museum to introduce a &#8216;pay what you can&#8217; ticketing system &#8211; just in time for the opening of two new shows:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.sainsburycentre.ac.uk/whats-on/empowering-art-indigenous-creativity-and-activism-from-north-americas-northwest-coast/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Empowering Art</a>, a ground-breaking exhibition of rarely seen artworks from across the Northwest Coast of North America (from Sun 12 March), and leading ceramic artist&nbsp;Julian Stair&#8217;s <a href="https://www.sainsburycentre.ac.uk/whats-on/julian-stair-art-death-and-the-afterlife/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Art, Death and the Afterlife</a> (from Sat 18 March).

Over in West Norfolk, <a href="https://www.houghtonhall.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Houghton Hall</a> has recently announced its next major sculpture exhibition opening next month. World-renowned artist <a href="https://www.houghtonhall.com/sean-scully-at-houghton-hall-smaller-than-the-sky/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sean Scully&#8217;s Smaller Than The Sky</a> will be displayed in the Palladian house and its formal gardens from 23 Apr to 29 Oct. Tickets can be booked <a href="https://shop.myonlinebooking.co.uk/houghtonhall/sessions.aspx?tid=7" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">now</a>. Home to the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, Houghton Hall is also worth a visit for its impressive permanent collection of contemporary outdoor sculpture from the likes of Anish Kapoor, Richard Long, Henry Moore and Rachel Whiteread.
