As far as celebrity endorsements go, superstar comedian <a href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/626611916071017" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jack Whitehall</a> is quite a scoop for Muddy Awards Finalist (and 2022 winner!) <a href="https://www.barnetts-hair.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barnetts</a> in Thornham. Flicking his own tousled barnett, Jack drummed up support for the starry-eyed salon&#8217;s bid to be crowned the best in Norfolk for the second year running. Of course, we had to share it on on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17953756454377680/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@muddynorfolk</a> (see Muddy Awards Story Highlight). Whilst at Drove Orchards, Jack visited <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Ericsfishandchips?locale=en_GB" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eric’s Fish &amp; Chips</a>, which is no stranger to famous diners including actors Tom Hardy and James Norton and royals Will and Kate. (FYI Jack is expecting a baby with British model Roxy Horner. Congrats!)



Over at another Norfolk beauty spot, former Stone Roses’ frontman <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=703338595137072&amp;set=pb.100063828141767.-2207520000.&amp;locale=en_GB" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ian Brown</a> was recently spotted taking life easy at <a href="https://www.fairhavengarden.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fairhaven Woodland &amp; Water Garden</a>. A regular in Norfolk, he apparently likes the peace and quiet.

The creative team behind Mysabar, Norwich’s outdoor bar and food tent, is making a comeback with a new wellness camping retreat for 2023. <a href="https://www.mysabar.co.uk/mysacamp">Mysacamp</a> will be held over three weekends in Aug (11-13, 18-20 and 25-28) in the beautiful Salhouse Broads. Expect Mysabar stretch tents with bar and local food vendors, music and a healthy dose of wellbeing in the form of yoga, pilates, ice baths, sauna and paddleboarding from Norfolk Paddleboards.

We’re all lit up to hear about this one! The Ludham <a href="https://www.illuminatedparade.com">Illuminated Boat Parade</a> is sailing back into Norfolk on Sat 16 Sep. A lovely way to mark the end of summer and the nights drawing in, the 25 boats will depart from Womack Staithe in daylight at 6.45pm and arrive all aglow at Potter Heigham Bridge around 7.45pm, before heading back by 8.30pm.&nbsp;For a prime viewing position head for Potter Heigham Bridge which will be traffic free for the event. Not only are there prizes for the flashiest boat, but also for &#8220;best-illuminated spectator&#8221; (we knew those fessy glowsticks would come in handy again!).

Hooray, there’s a whole raft of foodie openings to report! A new destination pub in the Broads,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.salhouselodge.co.uk">The Lodge at Salhouse</a> has been snapped up by the Colchester Inns family, who have just reopened it after a full revamp. The group also owns The Recruiting Sergeant &#8211; winner of the Muddy Awards Best Destination Pub &#8211; as well as the Black Boys Hotel in Aylsham, The Rising Sun in Coltishall and The Bucks in Blickling. Housed in a 19th century vicarage set in seven acres, The Lodge has a lounge bar, restaurant (the menu looks seriously enticing), six ensuite rooms and great outdoor space. Excitement ran high at the opening when customers drunk the pub dry, consuming a week’s worth of beer in one night! 



A summer launch is on the cards for a much-anticipated new city bar and tapas to be opened by MasterChef finalist Oliver Boon, the owner of Michelin-listed Italian restaurant Benoli. You’ll find <a href="https://www.instagram.com/barcerdita/">Bar Cerdita</a> opposite Gonzos in the former home of Artel coffee shop on London Street. Keep an eye on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/barcerdita/">socials</a> for the imminent launch date.&nbsp;

Al fresco Friday feasts with river views are on offer over at the glorious <a href="https://www.orangerytearoom.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Orangery Tea Room</a> at Ketteringham Hall, near Wymondham, who have just announced that in addition to their amazing afternoons teas and light lunches (served Wed to Sun 10am to 4pm), they will soon be opening on select Friday evenings in Jul and Aug for antipasti sharing boards and a sweet treat on the terrace (14 &amp; 21 Jul and 11 &amp; 18 Aug, £35 per person, 6-9pm; call 01603 599224 to book). Do you love chocolate?* (*Rhetorical question.) A build-your-own dessert bar is coming soon to the food emporium that is Norwich Market. The folk behind the popular <a href="https://www.thechocolatebarbaker.com/#/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Chocolate Bar Baker</a> horse box will be tempting city shoppers from 1 Jul with their melted chocolate dessert cups with a selection of toppings to choose from. You may have tried them at Norwich’s Junkyard Market or events through the county. Mine’s a Cherry Bakewell… mmmm. 



North Norfolk’s answer to Bondi Beach, Cromer has welcomed two new eateries in recent months. We’ve already brought you news of <a href="https://whitewatercromer.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Whitewater</a> but did you know you can order its gourmet burgers and homemade pizzas directly from beach via its app? This month saw the opening of <a href="https://gibsonsbistro.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gibson’s Bistro</a>, a new brunch, lunch and relaxed evening dining spot. Gibson’s has slotted straight into the town&#8217;s renowned community spirit by sourcing ingredients from local businesses where possible, including crab fresh from the seafront.

<a href="https://www.folkscoffeeco.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Folks Coffee Co</a> is on a roll. Hot off the back of its Blakeney opening in April, the company will be launching its third venue in the picture-perfect village of Heydon in July, with an onsite baker creating takeaway treats like pastries, bread and Friday night pizzas. Folks also runs the cocktail and espresso bar in Yalm in Norwich’s Royal Arcade.

If you love a side of cat comfort with your coffee and cake, this one’s for you. Opening in July, <a href="https://www.cathousenorwich.org/">The Cat House</a> is an unashamedly kitty-themed arts centre and lounge. You’ll soon be able to book in for a 1.5 hour session during which you can play with the (mostly rescue) cats, attempt to work at your laptop with cat on lap, cuddle up on the sofas or join an artistic and wellness workshop. Drinks and sweet treats available and you can bring your own sandwiches as they don’t serve savoury food. A purrfect note to end on.
