The Orangery Tea Room, Ketteringham

There’s always time for tea at The Orangery Tea Room. Nestled by a pretty lake in the grounds of a historic hall, it’s a blissful spot to savour leisurely lunches and afternoon teas.

Tucked away in the sprawling grounds of the Grade II-listed Ketteringham Hall, boasting peaceful lake views and just 15 mins outside Norwich, The Orangery Tea Room is one of those finds you tell everyone about. With floor-to-ceiling arched windows, pretty pastel interiors and a parasol-dotted terrace, it’s a charming place for catch-ups over cappuccinos and cake.

Having been opened by baker extraordinaire Laura Butler in 2019, The Orangery is all about a warm welcome, moreish sweet treats and head-turning afternoon teas raved about by in-the-know connoisseurs. There’s the traditional tea, with tiers of dainty sarnies, mini scones and sweet treats, or, if you haven’t got much of a sweet tooth, the popular savoury alternative, brimming with sausage rolls, herby shortbreads and tartlets. Celebrating a special occasion? Add on some bubbly for an extra-luxe afternoon (a catch-up with the girls counts as a special occasion in our books).

But The Orangery is much more than afternoon tea. Set yourself up for the day with an Insta-friendly breakfast board packed with American-style pancakes, pastries, granola and berries. Or make a lunch date – expect everything from sarnies and paninins to scotch eggs and sausage rolls, all fresh and made to order, and a fab wine list to boot.

Got a celebration on the horizon? From baby showers to hen dos and birthdays to family reunions, The Orangery crew will turn your vision into reality, including whipping up celebration cakes and cupcakes or hosting a champagne reception on the terrace. We’ll toast to that! The Orangery Tea Room provided the fabulous venue for Norfolk’s Muddy Awards Winner Drinks – watch the video footage of the event here.

Opening hours are seasonal. Booking is essential, with 48 hour notice on breakfast boards, and sweet and savoury afternoon teas.
