The Hoste

This 17th Century boutique pub and hotel at the heart of North Norfolk Coast strikes the perfect balance between timeless elegance and modern creativity. Throw in a unique spa, award winning restaurant, cinema and gym - that's all our Muddy boxes ticked!

Located in the pretty village of Burnham Market at the heart of the North Norfolk coast, The Hoste is bursting with colourful character. The original pub is a cosy den with low beamed ceilings, flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace. If you are of the persuasion, you could easily lose an afternoon/evening as the limted daylight means time gets lost after a few glasses of good red wine.

If you prefer things a little less vampiric, head to the back and their beautiful garden room. A modern glass extention which is light and airy, complete with sofas and the perfect location for one of their famed Champagne Afternoon Teas.

Talking of food, The Hoste’s award winning kitchen produces modern British cooking with dishes reflecting the best of the regions produce. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant has recently been recognised by The Times as one of the top 25 best food destinations. Plenty of areas to dine -choose from the stylish panelled dining room, pub, lounge, private dine room and sheltered walled garden.

There are 62 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, all stylishly decorated and equipped to the highest standards. They also have off site accommodation at Vine House, Railway House and three luxury self-catering cottages (breakfast included).

Boasting a private 20-seat cinema and unique spa – my Muddy boxes are well and truly ticked. Plus for local history buffs there’s a ‘Remember Nelson’ exhibition. Previously The Pitt Arms, and Admiral Lord Nelson’s local watering hole, the exhibition features letters written by the man himself and his protégé, Captain Sir William Hoste. There are also prints and displays charting Nelson’s battles and an original life mask of Lord Nelson cast in Vienna in 1800.

Norfolk is one of the most dog friendly regions in the UK and they are most certainly The Hoste’s best friend with every pooch receiving its very own VIP (Very Important Pooch) goody bag on arrival. Only a couple of miles from the spectacular North Norfolk coastline, guests can explore the local area by car, foot or by bike, using The Hoste’s onsite bicycle hire service. The hotel is surrounded by off-road routes, coastal paths and country lanes for a quieter ride.

Beaches, historical houses, ancient churches, working mills, museums, craft centres and picturesque villages – you’re not far from it all plus Burnham Market itself is a hive of independent boutiques and craft shops. The Hoste also has a varied events calendar which is worth checking if you’re planning a visit and want to coordinate.

A weekend might not be enough but The Hoste is the perfect place to start!

PLUS dogs stay free this March if you quote “Muddy Stilettos” and they have a rather cheeky Winter Retreat offer with Superior Double rooms available at just £109 per night. (excluding Easter holidays). Call 01328 738777 or visit www.thehoste.com for more information.
