Board game fan or just fancy trying something different? Unleash your competitive side over cocktails with the girls or brunch with the fam at Slice + Dice. Since it opened in 2021, this independent board game café and bar has injected even more fun into bustling St Benedict’s Street.

All ages and gaming abilities are welcomed, so if don’t know your Sushi Go! from your Star Realms, experts are at hand to help you pick the perfect tabletop game. They’ll even teach you how to play so no need to sweat over incomprehensible instruction booklets.

As with any busy venue, you’ll need to book a table and do note there is a small cover charge to play games which not only goes towards keeping their 300+ library of games strong, it also secures you up to four hours of uninterrupted game time. Woohoo!

The food and drinks are completely plant-based which is a massive draw here among the vegan foodie scene in Norwich. There’s sweet and savoury brunch options until midday followed by perfect game-night fodder (sharing nachos, burritos, burgers, etc). Aptly named mock and cocktails are available (Pawnstar Martini anyone?), along with locally sourced wines, beers, tea, coffee and other soft drinks.

Quite the community hub, Slice + Dice holds various events including a social gaming evening on the first and third Wed of every month, which is an opportunity to try new games and meet new people. They also host themed evenings and – if you want to go all-out – immersive game nights for up to 20 players. The social deduction games are especially popular – for the unititated they are like a big puzzle in which players attempt to uncover each other’s hidden role, with some working to sabotage them.
