Stunning Broads location, pitches + cosy Shepherd Huts. Lovely onsite shop with fresh coffee & pastries. Seasonal fruit picking & braziers for nights under starry skies.
Local couple, Tom and Jo LOVE camping! So much so they’ve built a fabulous campsite slap bang in the middle of the Norfolk Broads, not literally obviously but near enough! Hickling Campsite has lots of flat grassy pitches for tents (very important) and a range of glamping options including five Shepherd Huts and a quirky wooden pod they have aptly named ‘The Podfather.’
Open from May to September, this site is perfect for families and groups who want the freedom to pitch up and camp where they like. You’ll find immaculate wash and shower stations (unlimited hot water), power points (no electric hook ups – enjoy the freedom people) and a shop/cafe bursting with local homemade goodies. All of which will make even the least likely of campers feel comforted.
Situated on the edge of Hickling Broad Nature Reserve, the campsite is surrounded by nature and on a clear summer’s night it’s perfect for a spot of star gazing (tres romantic). You’re a bike ride away from award winning sandy beaches and under a mile to Hickling’s quaint, traditional village pubs The Greyhound and The Pleasure Boat Inn. Both great options for a cheeky post beach family dine or a relaxing glass of vino while watching boats glide along the tranquil broad.
In true Muddy style we opted for one of the beautiful hand-crafted Shepherd’s Huts. Hand crafted by Tom and his brother Issac, all the huts are unique and lovingly kitted out with beautiful soft furnishings and hand-picked kitchen equipment. They are truly quirky, rustic and comfortable. Each hut comes with a fully equipped kitchen including pots, pans, crockery and cutlery, a kettle and snug throws for cosying up around the firepit. Tom and Jo believe that a fire is an essential part of outdoor living, therefore, to save you the trouble of making your own, they have plenty of braziers for you to gather around with marshmallows or cook up your local fayre.
The campsite has a well-stocked camp shop, aptly named The Hickling Hut, packed with fresh local produce to keep your barbeques stocked with high quality and home grown flavour. If you’re not a morning person, simply arise and be instantly satisfied by the smell of fresh coffee beans (from Norwich Strangers Café) and freshly baked pastries.
A stay at Hickling Campsite is a great opportunity to switch off and wind down in a stunning natural environment.
Ps. Well behaved dogs are welcome too!
