Where to get your Christmas tree in 2021

Know the difference between a Fraser, Nordic Pine or a Norway Spruce? No, me neither. Here's my top six picks to make it easier, just get there and ask!

Manor Farm, Salle

Manor Farm, Salle is a mile or so outside the market town of Reepham with over 34 hectares of land just for Christmas trees, so there’s plenty to pick from. It’s a festive delight to drive up as dusk falls and see the open barn twinkling with lights, pick your favourite, sling it on top of the car and scoot home. Naturally, before this you’ll have at least three family disputes over which tree/how to get it in or on the car/who forgot the stretchy things to hold it on etc, but that’s all part of the tradition.

Open 9am – 5pm on 25 Nov to 23 Dec and 9am – 12 noon on 24 Dec

Elvedon Courtyard

The pride of East Anglia and pinning Thetford firmly on the map, Elvedon provides sustainably grown quality trees, and is the main UK supplier for all commercial festive events. The Courtyard has a farm shop, butcher and homeware shop too, which is perfect for a spot of Christmas shopping before you choose the tree. Not sure whether you want a Norway Spruce, Nordmann Fir or Fraser Fir? Check out the super helpful guide here.

Open 10am – 4pm from 27 Nov to 24 Dec

Aylsham Garden Centre

Owners Gary and Brenda (who also own the sister garden centre over in Wymondham) are offering a massive selection of both freshly cut and live potted trees this year. Pop along to choose your tree, browse the decs and lights and round off the day with a huge slice of homemade cake (be rude not to). Both gardens centres are now offering free delivery within 10 miles.

Open 9am – 5pm on Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday

Norfolk Christmas Trees

Norfolk Christmas Trees

At Norfolk Christmas Trees you can get the whole thing; tree, stand, lights and locally-made wreaths. Job done! Choose from cut Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir, plus lots of pot-grown trees. Top tip – visit during the week for the quietest times, when there’s also a selection of decorations available to browse too.

Open from 25 November, 9am – 6pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sunday

Taverham Nursery

Taverham Nursery attracts gardening enthusiasts county-wide and has a full range of just picked and potted trees, including Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruce, Serbian Spruce and Pines. The website is pretty helpful on the differences between the trees, so worth having a look first before you aim to get a huge potted tree and discover you can’t lift the beast to the car. Expect to pay more for a potted tree.

Open 8.30am – 5.30pm from Monday to Friday and 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sunday

Blackrow Nurseries

This family-run garden centre near Norwich has been selling their own homegrown Christmas trees since 1983 – so you know they’re experts. Varities include Nordman Fir, Norway Spruce, Serbian Spruce and Scots Pine, and sizes range from 3ft to a whopping 25ft (oh please Mr Muddy, may I?).

Open every day from 9am – 3pm
