Great Yarmouth Arts Festival, Great Yarmouth, Fri 8 – Sun 17 Jun
This will be the sixth Great Yarmouth Arts Festival and this year they’re celebrating 250 years of the circus. I’m picturing ‘The Greatest Showman’ and therefore hope the line up of life-size elephants, visual art displays, circus acts, live music and street food will not disappoint.
There’s a whole programme of free and ticketed events, click here for more information.
The Vintage & Creators Summer Market, Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Norwich Sat 9 June
Designer makers, unique vintage and retro sellers, BBQ and vintage lawn games. A lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon and Muddy tip – pop over to the Georgian Townhouse for a glass of something chilled!
Nick Cope Family Concert, The Norwich Puppet Theatre, Sat 9 June
It can sometimes be a little tiresome when the only time you get to the theatre is to see kiddie shows but this sounds like something that mums and dads might get a kick out of too. Nick Cope sings about head lice, dogs eating soap and my personal favourite – “the baby’s done a poo!!”
Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Thetford Forest, Brandon, Sat 9 June
With special guest Billy Bragg, this sounds like a great night in the Forest. I’m sure there’ll be a few throwbacks to The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, for those of us tipping 40!
Lynn Chadwick: Beasts, The Sainsbury Centre, Norwich, Fri 11 May – Fri 31 August
The Sainsbury Centre Sculpture Park is a must this summer! In addition to the fabulous Anthony Gormley Exhibition they’ve now welcomed three striking sculptures by leading British sculptor Lynn Chadwick (1914–2003) to take up residence in its East End garden.
These three “Beasts” (Crouching Beast II, Lion I and Beast Alerted I) are monumental animals captured in various states of action, made of welded stainless-steel sheets.
Muddy tip – built in BBQ’s by the lake make the perfect place for a little informal get together with friends on a Sunday afternoon!
Pop Up Shop at Dalegate Market, Burnham Deepdale, Thurs 7 – Tues 12 June (weekly)
Bored of the usual shopping haunts? Take a trip to the coast and pop into Dalegate Market for a relaxed mosey around some great independent shops and boutiques. Throughout the summer from Thursday to Tuesday, four new Pop Up Shops will be appearing in the beach huts behind the Cafe.
Talking of which, the lovely Deepdale Cafe was a finalist in our Muddy Awards 2018 Best Cafe category and well worth a visit especially for breakfast if you can get up early enough!
Full listings of all shops and Pop Up Shops can be found HERE
Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios 2018, Norfolk, Sat 26 May – Sun 10 June
Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios celebrates local artists and their achievements by offering them the opportunity to open their doors to the public to exhibit, sell and talk about their work.
New for this year – an Art Trail taking people on a guided tour of the Open Studios. Many artists run special events and activities offering visitors the chance to get creative and have a go themselves!
Studios are FREE to visit and visitors don’t need to book in advance, unless you are a large group.
