Property flirt! A luxurious Grade II village water mill

Fancy living inside an unbelievably pretty riverside mill, complete with unique period features? Come and take a tour around this Norfolk house-for-sale with us...

The very aptly named Watermill House is located in Tasburgh, a lovely and quiet South Norfolk village that’s only about 25 minute’s drive from central Norwich.

A super-spacious Grade II-listed former water mill, with seven bedrooms, it’s perched right on the banks of the River Tas and packed with quirky period charm.

Walking up the gravelled drive, you’ll arrive by crossing an ancient brick bridge that crosses the picturesque mill race. In the entrance hall, with its original dark woodwork, you can see the old mill machinery through a special glass floor- a fabulously unique touch!

You’ll find other bits of easy-on-the-eye original mill machinery throughout the house.

The hall leads off to a huge, beamed sitting room and a separate family room, as well as a dining room, cloakroom, big kitchen, separate utility room and double garage.

Even the biggest and messiest broods will have plenty of space to roam in this 7,100 square foot house!

Upstairs, a stunning landing (complete with mill machinery poking up through the centre of the house) gives way to a drawing room (very posh!) and en-suite master bedroom, as well as three other bedrooms and a separate bathroom.

A quick trip up another flight of stairs and you’ll find three more bedrooms, two with attached bathrooms, and a massive loft area that’s ripe for renovation.

The property has been given a stylish and period-sympathetic update – think dark wood flooring and bold, deep paint colours that really set off the rustic mill machinery and original fire places to gorgeous effect.

And if the house isn’t enough of a draw, the surroundings are also utterly idyllic – there’s a gorgeous walled garden in front of the house, and behind it you’ll find a lovely patio and lawn area, complete with flower borders and water features.

There’s also a beautifully wild meadow and woodland area extending backwards for 17 acres. Oh, and did we mention the swimming pool? Yes, there’s a pool – with views, as the kids say, for days.

If you can ever tear yourself away from your halcyon home the village has a beautiful church, a decent primary school and a proper country pub. You can get all the bits and bobs you need in nearby Long Stratton, or the very attractive market town Wymondham (which has a station) is just under six miles away. Plus, all the attractions of Norwich are under half an hour away.

The rumour “mill” has it that this gorgeous and gloriously kooky property might not stick around for long, so get yourself on the Sowerby’s website to oggle at it some more and check out the price, stat.
