Superflashy Newsflash

Psst! We have all the latest gossip in Norfolk - what's new, who's popping up and cool collaberations!

Space NK, London Street, Norwich

We have make up artist to the stars and one half of Pixiwoo to thank for suggesting that Space NK set up in their home town of Norwich. I’m a big fan of their range of organic and medically researched products such as Dr Dennis Gross and Odacite – another exciting addition to our Norwich High Street.

Dotti Chocolates,  The Lanes, Norwich

We’re very excited to see that not one but two new chocolate shops are opening in Norwich! Who knows, all that sugar might even help turn us from being one of the least happy places to live in the UK to the happiest – really these stupid surveys?!?

spotty model dog Dotti Chocolates , a devilishly decadent bean-to-bar store is the brainchild of Hannah Winter. They will be offering up natural, organic and where possible Norfolk produce infused chocolates which can be bought individually or packaged in boxes of 6, 12 & 24.  Flavours include white chocolate with Norfolk Gin and lemon,  Aperol spritz, Norfolk honey with whisky and a dark chocolate vegan truffle. They also sell chocolate bark by the gram which sounds indulgent and bars are on the way!

Montezuma’s, Norwich

Montezuma's chocolatesMontezuma’s is taking residence in the old Lush premises on Gentleman’s Walk. Husband and wife team Simon and Helen Pattinson, ex-lawyers and now self taught chocoletiers, have five UK shops and an online store. The Norwich store is the newest addition to the family and will be opening later this month, just in time for Christmas. There’s a whole range of scrumptious products on sale including some lovely stocking fillers and Advent calenders. Check out their Chocolate Club – a monthly dose of unique chocs and truffles delivered to the door (hint, hint).

 The Arc Cinema, Great Yarmouth

red cinema with black leather seatsThe multi-million pound refurbishment of the iconic seafront picture house in Great Yarmouth will have 500+ luxury leather armchair seats and wine on tap. Showing all the latest blockbuster and independent films as well as live screenings of opera, ballet and theatrical productions – this is definitely bringing a ‘luxurious VIP experience’ to the town.

Savage Golf, Norwich

Savage GolfA new pop-up crazy golf and cocktail bar is swinging into Norwich and will open just in time for Christmas. Opening in the former home of Giraffe in Chapelfield Plain, the nine-hole course will be spread over two floors and will glow with neon lights.

Aimed at the adult market looking for activity based drinking, serving up Sex in the Bunker and a Singapore Swing.

Savage Golf  is open from Thurs 28th November to Sat 21st December, 2pm to 11pm.  Under-18s are allowed with adult supervision from 2pm to 5pm (excluding Saturdays).

Hairsmiths, Norwich

colourful scarvesFollowing the recent move to their new four storey home on Timber Hill, the lovely Deb Dominic has reimagined some of her extra rooms into creative spaces for pop-up businesses this festive season. Two to three pop-ups can fit in the space and their logo will be written on the window to publicise their presence. Lined up so far are Loved by Lucia clothing, Bam & Arrow interiors and Bella Singleton print designed scarves. Enquiries welcome!

Christmas is a good time to give back and I give my full support to these two local charity campaigns.

Age UK Norwich & intu Chapelfield – The Giving Box

intu Chapelfield have teamed up with Age UK Norwich and launched The Giving Box. From now until 8th December, intu are collecting gifts which can be given to a lonely older person in the city and hopefully brighten up their Christmas. All you need to do it buy a small gift, drop it in at the Giving Box on lower ground mall and they’ll wrap them and drop them at Age UK Norwich’s Marion Dementia Day Care Centre. For ideas of gifts click HERE.

The Norfolk Hospice, North & West Norfolk Monopoly

The Norfolk Hospice offers support to patients, carers and their families who are living with life-shortening illnesses. They have been chosen by games producer Winning Moves to produce and design a special North & West Norfolk edition of Monopoly. How exciting – perhaps I can use the board for my inspiration to review all our iconic places, attractions and beaches.  Sales of the game will provide significant funds for the Hospice and help them to continue to provide outstanding care to communities in North & West Norfolk. Our lovely friends at No.Twenty 9 are headline sponsors plus lots of local businesses have sponsored a property on the board. Order HERE

Lisa Angel & Norfolk Gin

Two of our favourite local brands, Lisa Angel & Norfolk Gin, have joined forces to launch a personalised bottle of Norfolk Gin!

A great gift idea for gin lovers – put their personal stamp on the bottle by decorating it with their name and a message. You can have two lines of text with up to 10 characters which will be followed by the word ‘gin’.

Harry’s Restaurant, Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich

Burgers, Cocktails & Rum – Harry’s restaurant has taken over the iconic Pedro’s building in Chapelfield Gardens. I’m yet to check out the food but have heard some good reviews and I’m particularly excited that they’ll be serving breakfasts and lunches as it always seemed a wasted daytime eatery opportunity for such a beautiful location.

The Gatherers, Secret, Norwich

Vegetarian restaurant The Gatherers is set to open in early December and will be located near Magdalen Street, exact location to be announced, how very secretive! The new business is the brainchild of Daniel Farrow (The Norfolk Vegan Company) and promises to bring a bit of Parisian chic to Norwich. They will be serving authentic European dishes, good quality wines from across the continent and delicious cocktails.

The Dialhouse, Reepham

Following the success of Norfolk Restaurant Week, The Dialhouse have decided to scrap their a la carte menu and continue their Restaurant Week prices for a whole year!! You’ll now be able to sample Chef Andrew’s culinary delights with a permanent set menu offering two courses for £18.00 and three courses for £23.00. There will be daily specials and the menu will change monthly.

And don’t forget their Christmas shopping open house event on Thurs 28th November (5-9pm). Launching all sorts of new ranges including super fun hand soaps, neon concrete planters, doggy gifts, beautiful recycled blankets as well as more uniqueness from @arthouse.
