Muddy Says: Bursting with Norfolk flavours, fruity accompaniments and winner of a Muddy Award 2019 – WhatAHoot Gin is certainly shaking up the artisan gin market!
WhataHoot may have only been going for just over a year but they have packed a lot into that short space of time…. including winning Best Newcomer in the 2019 Muddy Stilettos awards!
The bespoke distillery can be found in the heart of Norfolk on the Royal Sandringham Estate in a barn formerly inhabited by owls – hence the name and of course drinking gin is the very definition of ‘WhataHoot’.
I don’t know what’s better, being neighbours with royalty or being neighbours with a gin distillery – hiccup your majesty!
Husband and wife team, Jason and Nicky Crown have sold 4000 bottles since they launched in May 2018. This might have something to do with their delicious blend of botanicals including the flavours of sea samphire and lavender, making this a unique taste of Norfolk.
Quick to release their second gin in time for the summer, ‘Tawny Orange’ is a natural fruity little number and when combined with their yummy ‘HootFruit’ garnish range, your regular G&T becomes something rather special. Seven dried fruit garnishes including lemons, limes, oranges, ruby grapefruit, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, HootFruit is a Muddy must if you want to impress your friends.
They also offer beautifully hand painted glasses with cute little owls – a perfect gift idea for the consummate gin lover.
A little barn owl told me there are top secret plans underway to create a range of other complimentary products using the ‘waste’ products from the distilling process – mmmmm watch this space!
