The Norfolk Mead Hotel
Muddy says: Winner of our 2019 Best Boutique Hotel – This stunning Georgian Hotel with spa facilities is nestled away in the village of Coltishall. Picture perfect location on the banks of the River Bure – it’s a great place to relax in style while exploring the Norfolk Broads.
If you were to describe your ideal romantic get away venue, The Norfolk Mead Hotel wouldn’t be far off perfect. Boutique and personal, classically stylish, quintessentially English – oh no, this place will not disappoint.
Beautiful Georgian architecture and an elegant modern decor – The Norfolk Mead is small enough to retain a family feel which gives the bar, reception, dining room and lounge a lovely intimate and cosy feel.
Bed & Breakfast accommodation comprises of standard, deluxe and suite style rooms, two cottages (sleeping 4 – 6 people) and three summer houses (sleeping 2-4 people). For a special treat, book the balcony room and in the warmer months enjoy breakfast alfresco or in the winter wrap up for a nightcap under the stars.
There’s tea and coffee in all the rooms but there are no self catering facilities in the cottages. Oh well, you’ll just have to enjoy Executive Chef Damien Woollard’s innovative daily menu using local ingredients sourced from the finest farms and markets in Norfolk.
Did anyone say spa? Yes they have treatment rooms too – offering a wide range of bespoke treatments in conjunction with the Natural Spa Factory.
At the heart of The Norfolk Mead is their walled garden with lush lawns, rose bushes and a large sheltered terrace perfect for Afternoon Tea or pre-dinner drinks. Take a wander around the private lake or if you’re feeling adventurous – hire their exclusive six-seater English Harbour Yacht and sail down the Norfolk Broads (picnics can be provided).
The Norfolk Mead is the perfect venue for weddings (it’s licensed), private or corporate events. Catering from 40 – 250 people with three main event spaces which include The Garden Room located in the walled garden, The Dining Room and Georgian Room both in the main house.
Our Muddy Award for Best Boutique Hotel is in good company here as they also hold an AA Four Star Silver Country House Hotel grading and a two Star AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence for the restaurant.
All of the facilities are open to non residents, making this a lovely little escape for an afternoon tea or fine dine experience.
Ps. look out for their yummy Tasting Events.
* Pets are welcome in certain rooms, however they are not allowed in the main hotel.
