Susan Yoga offers a wide range of holistic yoga classes, 1-1 sessions and retreats and went above and beyond any class I've previously experienced.
I’ve dipped in and out of yoga and never really found my om, until I tried a Susan Yoga class. Unlike other exercise, Yoga is as much cerebral as physical and therefore connection with the yoga teacher is paramount. For me this normally comes down to two things – personality and experience (environment can usually be won over by a good teacher).
Susan Aberdeen started her yoga journey 30 years ago and is trained by the British School of Yoga, the Worldwide International Federation of Yoga and the Sivananda Vedanta Centre. She has nearly 20,000 teaching hours under her yoga belt, which instantly gave me confidence, since popularity in the discipline has seen a huge surge in career yogis and anyone can qualify online without a practical assessment.
Susan teaches 6-7 classes a week in the Breckland area (including outdoors in the summer), 1-1 sessions in her private Yoga Loft, corporate classes, monthly Yoga Nidra (a total relaxation for body and mind) and retreats on the North Norfolk coast. Check out her FaceBook page for all the latest news and classes.
A comprehensive verbal run through of any injuries and my general well being left me feeling in good hands and I soon realised Susan’s approach is very intuitive and bespoke to her pupils needs and feelings. Mindfulness, meditation and Chakra balancing is mixed in nicely with the Hatha and restorative Yin Yoga.
Her yoga follows the seasons, for example summer is open and expansive whilst winter has a more restorative approach. Classes are designed to nurture the whole being and incorporate physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation and total relaxation. I very much liked this holistic and intuitive approach as I came away feeling both cared for and inspired.
You definitey get your money’s worth as classes last 1.5 hours and cost £26 for four weeks. Private sessions in ‘The Yoga Loft’ are by appointment and prices vary depending on the booking. Susan is also a Reiki II practitioner and qualified to give Indian Head Massages.
