Muddy says: Located in the upmarket North Norfolk town of Burnham Market – this ‘grown up’ bar/restaurant/boutique hotel has all the right ‘Muddy’ vibes.
Step inside No.Twenty9 and walk into a Hollywood hall of fame. Large black and white prints of classic film and music stars adorn the walls and you’ll be dining in the company of Marley, Monroe and Reed.
This grade II listed building has all the style and sophistication that these legends command. The decor is bold and I applaud the confidence for injecting some personality. I love the vintage glamour and felt the only thing I could possibly drink was champagne!
Multi-award winning Executive Head Chef Jeremy Parke and wife Rachael have over 40 years of culinary and hospitality experience between them. The menu is wonderfully diverse, made with all the best local produce and prepared in full view with some great culinary theatrics.
Fire is their USP – watch as your dishes are grilled over embers, smoked, dipped or iron branded and look out for their bespoke ‘flambadou’. All of which makes for a full sensory dining experience.
The pretty garden and courtyard is perfect for summer drinks after a long day on the beach. There’s a surprisingly large number of independent stores in Burnham, perhaps work up a thirst with some retail therapy. Make sure you check out Collen & Claire for some great designer pieces – one of my favourite boutique clothing stores.
An amazing wine list, extensive cocktail menu and 101 types of rum (ahoy sailor) this place is high on my Muddy recommend list.
Six stunning boutique bedrooms – Marley, Brando, Newman, Monroe, Armstrong and Reed. Each is unique to their namesake with high spec furnishings, mod cons including underfloor heating and outdoor patio areas. Three of the rooms have free standing roll top baths in the bedroom and check out the Newman room – it has it’s own bath mezzanine!!
There is one family room (but seriously leave the kids at home and enjoy some adult time) and dogs are welcome in some of the rooms, they even have their own menu.
Finally, there is a concierge service that will help make a weekend away that extra bit special – with gifts on arrival, picnic hampers and organised events and activities.
