Raynham Estate, Fakenham

It might be a 400-year-old stately home, but Raynham is a thoroughly modern spot - it's home to super-cool festivals, yurt glamping, and more gorgeous event spaces than you can shake a tent pole at. Let's take a tour, shall we?

Calling all music lovers, brides-to-be and staycationers – North Norfolk is calling! More specifically, the incredible Raynham Estate is, and we’re more than ready to pick up the call. The Hall itself is home to the historic Townshend family (as well as a fair few ghosts, if legend is to be believed!), but it’s also one of the best events venues and deluxe glamping options in the East of England.

Raynham’s rolling parklands are the perfect home for Norfolk’s brand-new festival Wide Skies and Butterflies (which will be welcoming big names such as The Vaccines, Hot Chip and Faithless this year), as well as their utterly beautiful Wild Meadow glamping retreat. There are eight deluxe yurts to choose from (two with en-suite bathrooms), nestled in five acres of wildflowers and all sleeping between four and five people. Each yurt is uniquely decorated, but you expect comfy king-size beds, woodburners, piles of cosy blankets and BBQs with outside seating across the board. Glampers also get access to a fairy-lit shared dining area called The Turnip Tent – the perfect spot for sundowner beers.

In fact, the whole site looks out over the stunning Wensum Valley – making it the ideal location for spectacular sunrises, sunsets, and starry skies. You can even watch them from the comfort of your bed, via the skylight in your yurt.

Prefer to spend your nights under brick and mortar? You can book period beauty Arthur’s Cottage at the bottom of the drive of Raynham Hall, right by the river Wensum. Newly and beautifully restored for 2022, it’s the perfect romantic getaway for two, with the whole of the Estate to explore and the North Norfolk coast just a short drive away, and it’s even dog-friendly. It’s fully booked for the rest of this year, but ripe for a 2023 staycation!

And as if all that wasn’t tempting enough, Raynham guests receive discounts for all sorts of fanastic local attractions, from family-friendly Pensthorpe Natural Park, deer safari Watatunga, WhataHoot gin school and Duration Brewing – where you can pick up a few fab local brews to enjoy back at the Raynham ranch!

With this much gorgeous, unpsoilt scenery on its doorstep, it’s also really good to know that Raynham are fully committed to protecting the environment. In fact, they’ve been known as sustainability innovators for many years, so you can relax fwith a clean eco-consience.

With such a glorious setting, it’s little wonder Raynham is also a premier spot for private event hire. It has two giant event tipis that can accommodate up to 160 seated guests or 200 standing – ideal for the boho wedding of dreams, or an amazing milestone birthday bash. Let’s face it – with this much space, you’re hardly going to disturb the neighbours!
