Glide Surf School, Cromer
By Cromer's East promenade (Norwich 45 mins) Glide Surf School is a pioneer of Norfolk's unique surf scene. Lessons from age 8+, including private family sessions and parties.
Know your doggy door from your duck dive? Nor do we, but don’t worry about the lingo, let’s just hit the waves. Glide Surf School, hire and shop are pioneers of the unique surf scene in Norfolk.
They’re a family owned business next to the pier on the East promenade in Cromer, with a passion for the sea offering activities to all ages and abilities in a safe, fun and friendly environment. Together they have decades of surf experience and are known for outstanding customer service, expert instruction and specialist advice from a strong team of professional coaches, all passionate surfers, paddle boarders and watermen.
Book online – they explain everything brilliantly on the website. Glide has a fantastic range of bespoke Surf and SUP (paddle boarding) lessons to suit individuals, families and groups. For rookie surfers (from 8yrs+) there are open groups or a private family lesson with a more personal vibe. And let’s fact it, Cromer ain’t Big Sur, so there are options for flat, calm days too. Beach bunnies (aka mothers) have been known guard the phones while surfing a large cocktail from The Gangway. They do take-aways – SO civilised.
And with advance notice, Glide is happy to handle private groups of more than 6 – your besties, corporate businesses (hey! we never got to do this in London!), birthday parties and stags, hens and er…ducks?
And check out the 5 day surf camp, 2hrs per day, during school holidays (8-12yrs) – £140pp. Booking essential!
Their equipment is also available for hire if you can’t fit your board in the car. The kit in their shop is great for everyone from those still trying to wobble upright, to mystical dudes who’ve ridden the world’s legendary swells. They’ll help you figure out what you need so whatever your experience you’ll always learning, progressing, and passionate your life in the water. Top tip…this is one situation where stilettos are probably best left in your handbag. Actually, do surfers have handbags? And what even are green waves?
Anyway, we’re amped. See you on the shore.
Train and bus station are both within a 10 minute walk with easy connections to surrounding areas, Norwich, London and the East of England. There are also several large pay and display car parks, all a 10 minute walk away.
PS There’s another branch at Mundesley, just up the coast from Cromer…all info on the website!
