Superflashy News Flash: Back to the Future
Time never stands still - certainly not in Norfolk where vintage home treasures point to a sustainable future, new tech shines in Norwich and psychedelia's back in vogue underneath the coolest party pad around.
Rock ‘n’ Roll heart
Going out is the new going out! Got my sparkle on and razzed up to Voewood for a fabulous private party thrown by Norfolk’s own Jay Gatsby, the ever delightful Simon Finch and Martha Fiennes (sensational in a Taboo vintage topper). The rare book world’s most Rock ‘n’ Roll dealer (think Mick Jagger flogging Shakespeare’s First Folio with a rebel yell) has an absolutely gorgeous Arts and Crafts home and when he’s not partying, it’s a phenomenally cool exclusive hire wedding venue. And now Simon’s turned the vaults into Pink Lloyds, a psychedelic Night Club named for the Lloyd family who built Voewood in 1903. Jealous? No need for that! If you get hitched by holding the coolest house party ever, Pink Lloyds is an additional space you can hire for late night shenanigans. Get it on.
Antique Chic with Downton Abbey
Guess who popped into Muddy favourite Avocet Antiques in Heydon the other day? Only our favourite butler, British acting legend and all round lovely fellow Mr Carson aka Jim Carter. Soon to be back on the big screen with Downton Abbey: A New Era, hitting cinemas March 2022. In fact, Sir Kenneth Branagh also swung by Avocet when he was here, deep undercover as Boris Johnson. Our leading thesps are clearly in the know about the coolest antique shop around…
Avocet sniffs out the best British auctions, French brocantes in the middle of nowhere & exciting European treasure troves – curating special, unique, different & groovy things to add serious style to your home. Head here for gorgeous, one-off, sustainable furniture from an age when things were made to last. As Mr Carson says “The business of life is the acquisition of memories”.
Not lucky enough to live in Norfolk? Shame. But hey, Avocet can deliver nationwide. This is the 21st century after all…

Norfolk is the Future
We absolutely love the brand new Digi-Tech Factory at City College Norwich (CCN) putting CCN students at the cutting edge of digital innovation and creativity in the UK. With state-of-the-art equipment and technology, lab spaces and breakout areas, this uber cool space is set to deliver an incredible learning experience for digital students. Designed by Coffey Architects, the perforated pattern resembles historic computer tape, digital code and binary sequences reflecting the disciplines studied within the building. We love that fabulous Norfolk construction gurus RG Carter engage with CCN construction students throughout the project. Silicone Valley has nothing on Norwich!
