I was recently introduced to the lovely Tanja Wright, an independent female wine merchant based near Cromer, Norfolk. Tanya launched TFW Fine Wines
in 2008 and has the wonderful job of tasting, buying and selling independent wine from all over the world to deli’s, farm shops and private clients.
Passionate about wine and all things local, I took the opportunity to ask Tanja if she’d share with us her wine gems to complement some of Norfolk’s summer local produce – Asparagus, Cromer Crab, Spring Lamb and English Strawberries.
Mouth watering yet???
Favourite Norfolk wine – Bacchus from Humbleyard, south of Norwich. Delicious & light – a perfect summer food wine.
Favourite white wine – Domaine de Guillemarine, Picoul de Pinet – an elegant white wine.
Favourite rosé wine – Painted Wolf, Den Rosé – a fruity, summer berry rosé made from the pinotage grape, summer in a glass!
Favourite summer red wine – The Fedele, Nero d’Avola from Sicily – deliciously smooth & velvety.
Favourite Fizz – a classic Blanc de Blanc from South Africa. Complements all foods but also a delicious aperitif.
If, like me, you’re stuck in a wine rut of New Zealand Sav Blanc, Tanja’s advice might inspire you to broaden your wine palette – certainly a summer resolution for moi!
