Gotta Have it
Summer's over but you can keep your interiors blooming gorgeous with these stunning eco lampshades from Norwich designer Jessica Mae Gower.
The evenings might be drawing in, but here’s a bright idea to help you
keep that summer glow all winter long. Say goodbye to boring boxy
lampshades and hello to these quirky and colourful petal lamps.
The brainchild of Norwich-based designer Jessica Mae Gower, the
lamps are both stylish and sustainable. Each lampshade starts life as a
plastic milk bottle before being hand dyed, stitched and riveted, then
arranged on a flexible brass base.
The lamps come in a range of colours (we’ve fallen in love with the
teal), but whichever you choose, green is the name of the game –
Jessica Mae uses as little new plastic in the lamps as possible, and the
internal fixings are ceramic rather than plastic.
The milk bottles are even collected locally – so your breakfast table
rubbish might soon be brightening someone else’s day.
The lamp bases can be straightened and wall-mounted to brighten up
even the gloomiest nook and cranny – or why not try them as wallmounted bedside lamps if you don’t have room for a side table?
The petal lamps are available in teal (£46), lime (£52), navy (£46),
cranberry stitch (£60) or gold stitch (£52) – but Jessica Mae can also
custom-make them in any colour to complement your interior.
We think they look blooming lovely all year round – and the best bit is,
they don’t even need watering.
