Romance in a hurry - skip starter and main and go straight for dessert? Here's five of our favourite sweet eateries.
Toulouse Lautrec once said -“Marriage is a dinner that begins with dessert”
We totally agree – there’s no better place to start or finish!
The Fig Bar, Maddermarket, Norwich
We all know that dessert is the best course on the menu, right? Husband-and-wife team Jaime and Stephanie Garbutt certainly do, which is why they serve nothing but dessert in their fab little restaurant just off the Norwich Lanes.
Follow them on Instagram if you dare – it’s absolute food porn!
The Ivy Brasserie, London Street, Norwich
First date – pop into the Ivy for a Chocolate Bombe and a glass of bubbles!
It’s certainly a beautiful environment to be romanced, see my Eating Out review for more information.
The Waffle House, St Giles, Norwich
Young kids – what romance? We’ve all been there – bundle the family up and head down to the Waffle House. A firm family favourite, this place has been serving up mega sweet and savoury treats for over 40 years. The proof of the pudding is in the eating – it’s always rammed to the rafters, so make sure you book ahead.
Barnham Broom Hotel, Norwich
If evening baby sitters are hard to come by – why not take a sneaky day off work and escape the city to the lovely Barnham Broom Hotel? One of my favourite places for Afternoon Tea plus if you are feeling the romance, book into the spa for a bit of pampering too!
East Coast Gelato, Hunstanton
Picture this – a romantic walk along Old Hunstanton beach, fish ‘n’ chips and a home made ice-cream. Now doesn’t that sound good? Plus Muddy Award winner East Coast Gelato serves up the most impressive range of flavours I’ve ever seen!
and finally …….
If you’d rather indulge at home and fancy surprising the other half with something sweet – have a sweet treat delivered to your door by one of these lovely local producers.
