The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe
Muddy says: Locations and views don’t get much better than The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe. The food isn’t half bad either…
The White Horse is a 2 AA rosette multi award-winning restaurant, bar and boutique hotel situated on North Norfolk’s marshland coastline, and an area of outstanding natural beauty, in Brancaster Staithe.
The conservatory restaurant – with deck terrace and adjoining dining area – affords spectacular views of the Norfolk Coastal Path and the tidal marsh beyond to Scolt Head Island, and is a great place to eat local seafood and seasonal produce – depending on the season, mussels, crab, lobster, oysters, shrimp, sea bass, mackerel and sea trout are in abundance. There is also a landscaped sunken garden, planted for all day ‘al fresco’ eating, while the garden comprises a solid roofed shelter area with sun canopy.
The bar offers a selection of beers, with real ale from the Brancaster Brewery, Woodfordes Wherry, Adnams Bitter, Fullers and London Pride, plus a changing guest ale and a wide choice of wine by the glass or bottle from around the world.
15 en-suite bedrooms make up the boutique hotel, each spacious in design with contemporary furnishings and seascape-coloured walls – seven occupying the main building – including ‘The Room at the Top’ with split level facilities and a viewing telescope; eight ground floor rooms with grass and sedum roofing blending with the marshland beyond.
