Muddy gets Palm Sole’d
We attend the launch of Palm & Sole's Sensory Beauty Club - and want to buy the lot
I’m looking for the olive oil – I’ve used the coffee, the brown sugar and the honey, but the mixture is still too thick. A glass of Prosecco is well within reach and 80s tunes are filling air, played by a DJ in a dapper hat behind me.
As Thursday evenings go, hand-making an Afternoon Slump Wake-up Hands Scrub while sat on a table with strangers, sipping fizz and listening to Madonna has to up there as one of the most unusual.
But then Kathy Webb doesn’t do usual. Winning best Beauty Salon in the Muddy Awards 2017 for her store on the lanes, the ingredients in Palm Sole’s range of creams, serums and scrubs are 100% natural, with a good amount of the ingredients found in your fridge or kitchen cupboards (join her Home Beauty Pantry workshops to find out how to create your own).
Tonight is the launch party for Palm & Sole’s Sensory Beauty Club’ – a new concept exclusive to Norfolk, where members receive personalised sensory beauty boxes containing four products tailor-made just for them, delivered directly to their door every month. Members can receive the same four products each time or swap one for something different. This includes items from the new Beauty Serum Cocktail Bar, a never-seen-before service where an actual cocktail shaker is used to blend your chosen ingredients into a facial serum. It’s genius.
Even the venue chosen for the event is unusual and beautiful – the Walnut Suite of The St. Giles House Hotel.
During the evening, hundreds of guests – including photographers, bloggers and beauty professionals – get stuck in making their own scrubs, enjoying a hand massage, testing (and buying) pots of creams and candles, and watching serums being shaken (not stirred) by Kathy herself, with the help of a colleague.
So, how does the facial serum cocktail idea work? Well, read the menu below, select your mixer, your shot and your aromatic essential oil and voila one completely unique facial serum tailored entirely to you. Ingredients are completely natural and include fruit, nuts, seeds and oats – all packed with essential vitamins and minerals to rebalance your skin and improve your mood.
Being a brilliant business woman as well as an innovator and Aromatherapist, Kathy managed to get everybody Instagramming during the evening in exchange for a bar of homemade lemon soap (which my babysitter absolutely loved).
You could also win a bottle of Tattinger Champagne.
If this is the level of creativity you get from joining the Sensory Beauty Members’ Club, then you can count us in. Naturally.
The next Sensory Beauty Members’ Club night is on Thurs 14 Dec, with tickets on sale from the website from 6 Nov (priced at £22 each) – it’s sure to be a Christmas cracker!
