It's not our usual bumper crop but here's a sampling of 13 cool things to do this month.


The Common Lot Creative Workshops, St Catherine’s Church, Norwich, Mon 17th – Fri 21st August

Two weeks of free creative art and performance workshops for 6 – 12 year olds with Norwich’s community theatre company, followed by a free hot takeaway meal for all the family.

We’re going on a bear hunt, Barnards Farm, Wymondham, Fri 15th August

Follow the signs to the bear’s cave, make your way through the swishy swashy grass, the thick oozy mud and all the other stops along the way until you find the teddy bear’s picnic with games, crafts and face painting. 

Book: £5 per child, free entry for adults accompanied by a child. Tickets can be purchased on the day. Picnics available for pre-order from Blackberry Café at £6pp. Face Painting is £4 per child. Don’t forget to bring your teddy bear and wellies.

Raveningham sculpture trail, Raveningham, 1st – 30th August 

Explore 3 acres of magical semi-wild gardens and woodlands where over 40 artists will be exhibiting sculptures and site specific artworks. Raveningham Sculpture Trail is an annual art trail featuring diverse contemporary artworks and a pop up gallery full of treasure and treats.

Book: £6 adults, under 18’s free

Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Aylsham, Sat 8th August

2019 Muddy Award Winning Best Family Attraction Redwings will be opening reduced hours on Saturdays and Sundays only, between 10.30am and 3pm. You must book, entry remains free but donations would be very welcome as this charity is 100% funded by public donations. Read our full review here.

ROARR Dinosaur Adventure, Lenwade

Desperate to get the kids out of the house? Roarr is back open with lots of safety measures in place to help you enjoy some much needed fun. Check out their facebook page for handy guides to booking and videos explaining what they’ve done to protect against Coronavirus.

The Twiggles have opened their forest door to our favourite woodland adventure park, hoorah! Capacity has been reduced and they are only accepting pre-booked tickets, so plan ahead.

Pop Up Shops at Dalegate Market, every Thurs in August 2020

#inlovewithlocal – pop along to Dalegate Market and shop local artisans and producers, including food, drink, clothing, antiques, collectables, toys, art, crafts, home furnishings and more! Then pop to the beach and chips for tea!


Holkham Estate, Holkham, every weekend  

Every weekend from 12-4pm, Holkham will be hosting ‘Feast in the Park’ tempting us with lots of local food and drink producers! 

Street Food Market, The Pigs in Edgefield, every Saturday

Street food and music from noon til 4pm, it’s the perfect Saturday fix!


Stand Up Paddle Boarding & Wildlife Canoe trails, Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden, Sat, Tues & Wed in August

Fun in the water at Fairhaven! I’ve always wanted to give paddle boarding a try, so will definitely be popping along with the kids this month. Basic one hour sessions are available at 11am and 2pm, with experienced instructors. Suitable for age 8+. Alternatively, if you fancy a more leisurely activity with the kids (4-16) – explore the hidden waterways and wildlife with Free Spirit Canoe Tours.

The Drive In Experience, Norwich (Thurs 13th – Sun 16th August) & Thetford, Thur 20th – Sun 23 August)

Head to Taverham Hall (13-16 Aug) and Euston Park (20-23 Aug) for a whole menu of fun entertainment including ‘midday movies’, live music & DJ’s, comedy and family entertainment. Including – DJ Dave Pearce, panto favourite Ben Langley, Gareth Gates and Rozalla. All you need is your favourite friends bubble and a car and the magic will be delivered via a massive LED screen and your car stereo.

Luna Cinema, Holkham Estate, Thurs 13 – Sun 16th August

Picnic and a flick in the beautiful grounds of Holkham Hall – yes please. The classic movie bill includes Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Rocket Man and The Greatest Showman (of course!).

Open air recitals, Wolterton Park, Fri 21st & Sat 22nd August

Two evenings of enchanted open air music at Wolterton Park. The recitals will bring together nine internationally acclaimed musicians to play Baroque and Romantic music underneath the arches of Wolterton Hall’s grand hall.
