Dreamscapes in Holt
'Dreamscapes' by Rosa Sepple at Adrian Hill Fine Art between the 8th - 12th September - a Muddy must visit this month!
I first saw Rosa’s work when I visited the gallery earlier in the year, I fell in love with the picture below entitled ‘Let’s meet at the Blue Bar’ and was shocked Mr O bought it for me for my birthday this summer.
The painting instantly sent me on a nostalgic trip to my heady days at university – drinking, smoking and partying with my fabulous girlfriends! It reminded me how carefree I once was – full of optimism and excitement (big sigh).
Flash forward 25 years and I’m not quite as carefree but this painting is a daily reminder to be more optimistic and channel my 18 year old self!
I love the vibrant colours and the dream like effect of these beautiful women. It’s almost like they’re floating off the canvas trying to entice you into their world.
A self taught artist, Rosa layers her watercolours with other materials to create a textured effect. As I walked around the exhibition, I felt like Gollum from Lord of the Rings – desperately trying to resist touching the paint layered lace and jewels.
Rosa is an award winning painter, her artworks have been secured for private collections worldwide and featuring in major art venues including the Royal Academy summer exhibition. She is also the first female to be elected as President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
