There is nothing quite like wrapping up warm and wandering around a beautiful Christmas market, hot drink in hand, and this Friday sees the return of the annual – and every popular – Deepdale Christmas Market, with over 120 local artisans and producers battling for you attention with something for every budget, every present list and every taste.
If you haven’t been to the Deepdale Christmas Market before, you’ll be surprised to see how the small village of Burnham Deepdale – which has just 30 permanent residents – has become home to one of the East of England’s best festive markets.
It is, of course, Father’s Day on Sunday 19 June so here’s our essential Muddy Gift Guide for grateful sons and daughters. From traditional shaving sets to fine English grape brandy, you won’t put a foot wrong with this crop of goodies:
WHERE TO BUY THE GOODIES:
1. Damascus knife set, ProCook, £349
2. White Grizzli Overshirt, APC, Liberty London, £155
There’s something lovely and comforting about a deli – from the traditional canopies (stripy or otherwise) keeping the place – and the produce – cool, to the wooden crates of plump fruit and veg, and from the delectable cheese counter to the rows and rows of local bottled beers.
It’s even more comforting when the deli is family-run with a lovely story to go with it. Take The Norfolk Deli in Hunstanton, founded by husband and wife team Rosie and Mark, they finally took the plunge after years of living in London and now live in the house upstairs.
